DENDERA star musician, Suluman Chimbetu, is set to release his next album in the next two months.

The 40-year old, who has kept fans guessing for close to three years, said the album will be released before his birthday in May.

He turns 41 on May 27.

The last album he released was titled Entanglement in 2020.

In an interview, Sulu said he has been working on the album since the Covid-19-induced lockdown.

“I want my fans to enjoy the album so that by the time Christmas comes, everyone would have found their favourites.

“It will be released before my birthday, which is on the 27th of May.

“The album will feature many songs.

“I am not sure of how many they are now because I don’t determine the tracks which will be released.

“We have a panel, which is responsible for selecting the songs, even among those which were recorded years ago but were not released.”

He said the album will address social issues affecting communities.

“Social media has influenced how people live and communicate these days and, so, as a musician, I believe it is my duty to address these issues through music.

“Some of the issues include drug abuse, child marriages, corruption, child abuse and gender-based violence.

“We have seen that gender-based violence does not only affect women, but men too, many of whom do not come out in the open when they are in this situation.”

Sulu boasts of a rich catalogue of songs which include Ndomusiya Nani, released in 2007, Reverse Deal (2008), Non Stop (2010), Syllabus (2012), Gunship (2014), Jamboree (2016), Ndomusiya Nani DVD and Entanglement released in 2020.

After taking over the reins at Orchestra Dendera Kings, following the death of his father, Simon, in 2005, Sulu has managed to keep the family legacy intact.
