FOR the first time Franco “Slomo” Dhaka and his new outfit, Extra Kwazvose, will come face to face with his former boss Suluman Chimbetu at Pamuzinda Highway Xscape on Friday August 30. Since the launch of Extra Kwazvose album “Ndizvo Zviripo” last month at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex the two had not shared the stage.

The show, organised by Red Rose Entertainment, is a farewell gig for Suluman Chimbetu who is scheduled to perform in Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa, early next month.

This time Franco will be leading his own band and performing in front of his former paymaster, which is a big challenge and has to prove that  he has no regrets for leaving his former boss.

On the album “Ndizvo Zviripo” Slomo penned “Gurajena”, “Ishewangu Ndinotenda”, “Mai vaBonnie” and “Mudiwa Wangu” while Jonas Kasamba wrote “Africa”, “A’Jurias” and “Amen”.

The talented dancer is expected spice the group with his dancing skills which has no doubt brought him fame. Fans are expecting Sulu and Slomo to share the stage  performing the dendera dance as they used to.

The nimble-footed dancer grabbed attention in the music industry following his departure from Alick Macheso and Orchestra Mberikwazvo who groomed and brought him fame to join Suluman Chimbetu as the lead dancer.

Dhaka went on to form Extra Kwazvose with Macheso’s former band members, lead guitarist Noel Nyazanda, drummer Obert Gomba and chanter Jonasi Kasamba who are also referred to as “Rebels”.

However, the group has blessings from their former leaders both Suluman and Alick Macheso, although there have been reports of the latter mocking them at one of his shows. With the live shows they have staged so far, the group is doing well and their music is being well received.

Barbara Chikosi, who was the brains behind the The Extra Kwazvose’s maiden show at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex, said the group is doing so well.

The gig provides them with yet another chance to prove themselves that they are no pushovers in the industry and here to stay.
The gig is also meant to welcome summer and they are looking forward to a bumper crowd as young artistes who have managed to keep the legacy left by their fathers Peter Moyo, Morgan and Tendai Dembo will be part of the show.
