Sulu heads for Cape Town

Suluman, who represented Zimbabwe at the Seychelles carnival which was attended by representatives from 26 countries, gave a good account of himself in front of a capacity crowd, prompting the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority to consider him for yet another slot at the Cape Town Carnival.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive Karikoga Kaseke said the whole group was impressed by his performance and that Sulu will perform in South Africa on March 16.

“The decision is premised on his performance at the carnival which was surprisingly well received by Seychellois and other foreign participants. With such a brand, he can take Zimbabwe anywhere and we are hoping that he will perform exceptionally well at the forthcoming carnival,” he said.

An elated Sulu said he would immediately start preparations for the carnival once the group returns home.

Meanwhile, seven countries have confirmed participation at the debut Harare International Carnival that will be held in Zimbabwe from May 22-29.

Brazil, Mauritius and Seychelles are among the seven countries that are expected in Zimbabwe during the carnival, one of the many initiatives that Government is working on to market the country as a prime tourism destination.

Probably the main attraction at the carnival apart from the musical night would be the Brazilian salsa and samba dancers, who are known for their scant dressing and highly provocative dances.
