Dendera crooner Suluman Chimbetu will on Sunday serenade legions of fans through music and dance in Chitungwiza to mark Joy Centre Nightclub’s fourth anniversary.
Sulu, a celebrated dendera musician, will be supported by one of Zimbabwe’s talented dance groups, Syndicate Girls, in a gig that promises pomp and fun-fare. It will not be the first nor a last for Sulu, who two years ago staged yet another grand show at the venue to mark its second anniversary. The late Sam Mtukudzi performed at the inaugural gig.
If anything, Sulu’s return to the joint would be nothing short of a massive party, where he is expected to ignite a revelling mood at the joint through song and dance. With a growing discography which includes four albums to date in addition to an array of songs from his late father’s discography, Suluman is expected to put up a good performance.
With songs, like “Chauta”, “Kwedu”, “Temperature” and the sing-along “Sean Timba”, the young crooner will definitely set the pace for the celebrations that are expected to spill over into early hours of Monday morning.
Suluman is no stranger to live gigs and have travelled the length and breadth of the continent staging gigs. He has often measured up to the task with his well choreographed and presented a flawless act.
Sulu’s performances are often up to scratch, polished and well-choreographed.
On the other hand, Syndicate Sisters have proved beyond reasonable doubt that their act is intact and cannot be matched with any other dancing group of their time. Their flexibility in terms genres enables them to switch from sungura to kwaito without any hassles.
Speaking on the issue, Joy Centre proprietor David Mudzudzu said he was elated with the joint’s continued success in providing premier entertainment in Chitungwiza.
“I am happy to say that we have come of age, as a joint and we will continue to do more for our people,” he said.
