Speaking at a reception held for arts journalists at the weekend, Sulu reiterated that “Sean Timba” was against music piracy.
“A song can mean different things to different people, but what I want my fans to know is that dendera music is not for violence, but peace. ‘Sean Timba’ is a song which castigates music piracy,” he said.
Sulu also thanked his fans for the overwhelming reception to his album.
“Basically, I would like to thank my fans and the media for all the support. I hope to continue delivering the best in song,” he said.
Backed by the Orchestra Dendera Kings, Sulu’s latest album “Syllabus” has received rave reviews with some critics describing it as the original dendera which was pioneered by his late father Simon.
Already, the song “Sean Timba” has caused some a stir on air with some people going crazy about the catchphrase “Batai Munhu” from the chorus.
Sulu will be part of the line-up of musicians who will take part at a charity match organised by Chipaz Promotions featuring yesteryear football legends and musicians this weekend at Rufaro Stadium.
