Summer essentials for 2021/22 season

Summer is around the corner and what have you planned? Even the flora and fauna is certainly planning for summer and you can see by the change of their plumage and coats. They too know fashion and then how can a human being fail, where plants and animals tinker and tinge.

Even though we are still not yet out the woods with Covid-19, it is always good to stay prepared and get ready to have some fun once the lockdown is over.

I must say even if the lockdown ends the virus will still be lingering and it is certainly here to stay for too long.

So, it is advisable to get vaccinated, practice social distancing, mask up and sanitise.

It is certainly better to meet outside than inside, no one will go against these precautions because summer is definitely for outdoor activities. Its better to be home than to be in hospital.

There will be BBQs lined up, drinks by the lake, water sports like swimming  and obviously drinks on the balcony chilling with friends and family.

In hot summer afternoons, first things first, you will need a pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from the blistering sun.

Sunglasses have a multi-faceted purpose as they are also stylish, they add an element of mystery on you and they elongate your face.

This summer is making waves for gents to experiment with colours.

Most gents are a bit sceptical about wearing a bit of colour like yellow, pink, floral pattern and pastel colour but this year, with what we have gone through with the pandemic, it is very privy to brighten up our moods with some bright colours.

Don’t overdo it though.

Bright colours look good if they are not matchy-matchy, throwing in a pink t-shirt with khaki chinos and another pastel colour in the mix will look really great and flattering, ladies also love confident men in “ladies” colours.

I don’t even know why colour is gender based, I mean, colour is just colour.

There is a hat for everyone, from Panama hats to fedoras to daddy-baseball caps to eight piece flat caps.

A hat is definitely a must have this summer.

As much as the purpose is to protect yourself from the sun, they also have a touch of class to your whole outfit.

It is also important to note that you need to choose a hat that goes well with the overall frame of your body and face for example if you are a tall and slim guy always go for hats with shorter crowns and also if you have a small head and frame try to avoid big hats with big brims and crown because they make you look smaller.

Linen garments will be trending this summer as well.

Linen is one of, if not the best, fabrics to wear in summer due to its naturalness just like cotton being made from natural fibres. Linen is breathable and encourages a good circulation of air around your body.

You can find linen in almost everything, shirts, trousers, jackets and smart casual suits.

You have to throw in chinos and cargo pants in the mix.

Most big brands like H&M had these on display but regardless of that, cotton chinos stood the taste of time as an every season essential, mostly ideal in summer due to their versatility, with boat shoes, loafers, slides or trainers and in all cases will be worn cuffed.

Cotton polo shirts, denim shirts, floral shirts and white crew neck t-shirts are some summer 21/22 staples.

Cotton won’t cook you alive even though you will definitely need antiperspirants and deodorants during these hot summer days but natural fabrics are the go to garments this season.
