SOLAR company Sun King has launched its PowerHub system in Zimbabwe, a multi-kilowatt AC solar and energy storage solution designed for modern homes and businesses.

The PowerHub was unveiled during a conference hosted by the company, attended by stakeholders from across the country, including energy sector players and potential partners.

The system combines solar generation with battery storage, offering a reliable alternative to grid electricity amid ongoing power challenges.

It is targeted at households and small-to-medium enterprises seeking consistent and affordable energy.

Sun King’s General Manager for Partnerships and Business Development for Southern Africa, Njuguna Oscar, said the company’s entry into Zimbabwe is driven by the need to address energy access gaps.

“The biggest ethos for Sun King is to provide energy for underserved communities. Across Africa, we have millions of homes that do not have access to the grid, or even if they do, it may not be reliable or affordable,” he said.

He added that the company is working to ensure its solutions are accessible to Zimbabweans through partnerships and alignment with national electrification efforts.

“We are seeking to work with industry players and be part of initiatives that support the Government’s electrification programmes, while demonstrating that our solutions can meet the country’s energy needs,” he added.

The PowerHub is capable of powering large homes, small businesses and light industrial operations, positioning it as a scalable solution to Zimbabwe’s energy demands.

The system is also said to tap into Africa’s most abundant resource.

“We don’t fully utilise the most available natural resource in Africa, which is the sun. The PowerHub allows households and businesses to harness that resource for reliable power,” he said.

He noted that inadequate power supply across the continent makes solar energy an increasingly necessary alternative.

Sun King’s introduction of the PowerHub marks a step towards expanding access to clean energy solutions in Zimbabwe, while supporting productivity in homes and businesses.

The company is expected to roll out the system across different parts of the country as demand for alternative energy continues to grow.
