Know your Warriors: Marley Tavaziva

Innocent Kurira, Sports Reporter

COULD he be the next Warriors number one?

Marley Tavaziva (20) who plays for Brentford B is another potential future Warriors star, should he choose to play for the country of his origin.

He received his first national team call-up when Zimbabwe played in the World Cup qualifiers late last year though he did not turn up for duty.

The goalminder joined Brentford B on a two-year scholarship in the summer of 2022 having been part of the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust’s post-16 Education programme.

Brentford B and the Community Sports Trust have had a positive relationship with players often given the opportunity to step into the set-up at Jersey Road to train with the young Bees.

Marley’s first footballing memory was Little Kickerz in nursery and his proudest moment as a footballer was signing with Brentford.

His favourite football shirt is Barcelona’s 2021/22 away shirt and his footballing idol is Jordan Pickford.

On Fifa, Marley enjoys playing as Manchester City.

With a rather busy schedule for the Warriors ahead, there is a chance he might be called up for duty in some of the assignments.

The Warriors will be playing in qualifying games throughout the year except during the March international break.

According to the latest information, the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers will only be played in June, while the 2025 Afcon Qualifiers will be during the other windows.

The Afcon qualifiers will begin in March in the preliminary rounds but Zimbabwe will not be taking part.

This will allow the national team to arrange at least one friendly match during that window.

The final Afcon qualifying campaign will take place during the September, October and November international matches’ windows. — @innocentskizoe
