SOUTH AFRICA Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns own pretty much every PSL record, but there is one more they will be gunning for before the 2023/ 2024 DStv Premiership season wraps up.
Mamelodi Sundowns have 69 log points from 27 matches this season, thanks to 21 wins and six draws. Masandawana own the record for points earned in a PSL season that contained 16 teams (30 matches). That record stands at 71 points which the Tshwane giants set in winning the title in the 2015 /2016 season.
With three matches remaining in the season, Mamelodi Sundowns could pick up as many as nine more points, finishing the season on a whopping 78 points.
They have already been crowned champions, and want to finish the season unbeaten. They have won their seventh successive Premier Soccer League championship title, and look set on history-making, with coach Rulani Mokwena eager to achieve more. However, they only require another three points from the matches below to break their old record — and rewrite the PSL history books once again. They have pretty much each matches against Stellenbosch, TS Galaxy and Cape Town City FC. — www.thesouthafrican.com)
