Hwange supporters worried

HWANGE football club has never sunk so low. They have won one match out of 11 encounters they have played in the Castle Lager Premiership campaign.

The coal miners are at the bottom of the Premiership log and it seems there’s little that can plug the ship’s cracking hole, meaning it is on the sinking path.

The Chipangano lot last tasted victory when they beat Yadah Stars 1-0. That was their last sweet bite.

From the statistics at hand, the coal miners have lost six matches and drawn in four. So porous is their defence that has seen them conceding 15 goals. That’s a mark of a terrible run in the Castle Lager Premiership campaign.

Supporters are worried. They want a big change as they see how bad the situation is at their beloved team. The tag lines “Take Take Nabeve” and “Bhola Nikushosha” means nothing.

Hwange is best described as a team that needs immediate rescue and it has got every sport follower in the town concerned.  Any talk of the team’s performance breeds anger and disgust.

The 12th man has opted to comment on the poor show. The Hwange Supporters Association chairperson, Lisutu Ndlovu said they long for a victory. He said the team just has to shape up.

“Chipangano is our team. We will follow it no matter what. But, for now, we cannot sit and fold our arms and say everything is fine. We have to rise and move away from the relegation zone. We are all greatly concerned especially on our part as supporters. We are going through a rough phase, which we are collectively working together to come out of,” said Ndlovu.

He hinted that part of the team’s problems emanated from losing some of their best players, who opted to find greener pastures elsewhere.

“The great exodus of players at the beginning of the season is what has negatively affected us as players and technical team. We hope they are working hard to come up with a positive change that will bring the desired results. No one wants Hwange to sink,” he said.

The supporters body called for a unity of purpose.

“A positive attitude is needed. As supporters, we will continue to support our team. We have faith, the results will start coming soon and more commitment and focus from all stakeholders will see the team winning,” said Ndlovu.

Hwange’s next assignment is a match against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium on Saturday. They have recently parted with coach Nation Dube and the hunt for a new coach is underway.
