Sundowns sweat over Billiat

Mamelodi Sundowns have some injury concerns heading into their Caf Champions League clash with Zamalek, with the likes of star playmaker Khama Billiat and Thabo Nthethe nursing knocks.

Sundowns left South Africa on Thursday as they get ready to face the Egyptian giants at the Cairo International Stadium today (kick-off: 19h30).

The Brazilians currently top Group B on goal difference, with both sides collecting three points at Enyimba’s expense.

Downs, however, are sweating over the fitness of PSL Footballer of the Season Billiat and defender Nthethe, while fullback Mzikayise Mashaba and goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene are also carrying ailments.

The club said on its website: a?Sundowns have a few injury concerns a Khama Billiat who got a knock during training on his ankle, Thabo Nthethe who got a knock on the quadriceps during the Enyimba game, Mzikayise Mashaba, who is still recovering from a groin injury from the end of last season, and experienced goal-minder Kennedy Mweene, who was injured just before the Enyimba game.

a?But the technical team would not be unduly concerned.a?

However, keeper Denis Onyango, who is back from suspension, is confident the Absa Premiership champions will prevail in North Africa.

a?We are ready for them. We have been working hard, and we are determined that nothing will stop us,a? said the Ugandan.
