ALICK Macheso is set to headline a special Valentine’s eve party at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton.

The sungura superstar is promising lovers and music fans an intimate night filled with nostalgia, romance and hits.

According to organisers, the show is scheduled for February 13, running from 8 pm until late, with the admission fee set at US$5.

The concert, themed “Panyaya Dzerudo,” is expected to focus heavily on love-inspired music, making it a perfect warm-up to Valentine’s Day.

In the lead-up to the show, Macheso has already invited his fans to start sending in song requests, which has heightened anticipation among his loyal following.

The request-driven set is expected to allow fans to relive timeless love songs while also celebrating relationships, commitment, and togetherness.

Macheso’s publicist, Tichaona Makahamadze, urged couples to show up in numbers for the party, which aims to set the tone for what the arts hub has in store for fans.

“Pakare Paye is our favourite home ground and we urge couples to attend this event, which is set to attract hordes of couples from Norton, Harare, and other areas,” he said.

“Being the Valentine’s Day eve party, we can assure fans of a fun-filled event where love songs will dominate our playlist.

“Fans can still request the songs they want to hear from us through our social media pages. “We are here to cater for our audience and that is the reason we call ourselves ‘band revanhu,’ which can be loosely translated to ‘people’s musical outfit.’

Makahamadze said they were determined to ensure that fans receive real value for their money at the party.

“We have recognised that we have a huge constituency to cater to and we are ready to ensure that we give revellers true value for their money.

“Fans deserve the best as they spend their money to watch us perform live for them.”

Similar sentiments were echoed by Faith Kadzura of Tuku Music, who are hosting Macheso.

“It’s quite an honour to be ushering lovebirds into Valentine’s Day alongside our living legend Alick Macheso,” she said.

“We have hosted him before and Norton is fast becoming his favorite hunting ground.

“He was a close friend of our late father, Tuku (Oliver Mtukudzi), and it will be interesting to host him.”

Macheso’s Valentine’s eve performance also carries emotional significance, given his close association with the late music icon who was declared a national hero.

As a close ally and contemporary of Tuku, Macheso has often been praised for keeping the legend’s spirit alive.

With a career spanning decades, Macheso remains one of Zimbabwe’s most consistent live performers, known for delivering energetic shows that blend storytelling, humour, and social commentary.
