Sungura ace readies fourth offering

THE picturesque Honde Valley, which is no doubt Zimbabwe’s best kept tourism secret, is home to one of the fastest rising sungura artistes who has taken the genre by storm.
Trymore Ganda, popularly known as Adhala Socky, is not a stranger to the local music scene, especially within the sungura genre.
He has built a solid reputation over the years for consistently releasing impactful songs with powerful lyrics that inspire and resonate with many.
At just 33, Socky has won the hearts of many listeners across various radio stations, particularly Radio Zimbabwe, with his captivating lyrics, powerful bass guitar, and expertly crafted word arrangements.
His music resonates deeply with the audiences, blending rich melodies and thought-provoking messages that leave a lasting impact.
Known for his unique style, Socky has become a beloved figure in the industry, drawing listeners with his authentic sound and dynamic performances.
Through his artistry, he has carved out a special place in the hearts of fans, showcasing his undeniable talent and passion for music.
Socky, who is now based in Harare, has had two of his songs, Uchamufunga and Uchazvipedza Here, plucked from his first two albums, Kuvhundutsa Vanhu (2021) and Ngazviende Mberi (2022) respectively featuring in Radio Zimbabwe’s End of Year Top 50 contests.
Backed by The Sungura Reformers, Socky boasts of three albums, and he is on the verge of releasing his fourth project titled, Garai Pasi. The album is due for release next month.
The project will carry seven tracks, Godo, Baba VaJudie, Hazvidi Kuganza, Nhava Yebenzi, Chenga Ose and Mukapita Kumanda.
“Mukapita Kumanda offers a powerful reminder to parents to prioritise their children’s future and work hard to provide them with a secure and prosperous life, while Mombe Yehumai is a powerful song that emphasizes the importance of fulfilling cultural obligations, showing appreciation for those who have cared for us, and preserving cultural traditions.
“My message here serves as a reminder to listeners to respect their cultural heritage and to show gratitude to those who have played a significant role in their lives. The song, Godo, reminds listeners that jealousy has no place in our lives.
“By choosing to focus on gratitude and rejoicing in the success of others, we can create a more positive, supportive, and uplifting community.
“This song is a beautiful encouragement to listeners to cultivate a heart of gratitude and to trust in God’s goodness. The song, Baba VaJudie, is a call to action, encouraging fathers to prioritise their families and communities. Socky said his music is inspired by personal experiences, social issues, cultural heritage, trending events, nature and environment as well as literature and art.
