SUNGURA MUSICIAN FLIES HIGH WITH JAH LOVE COPYCAT

SUNGURA musician, Mukoma Panga, who recently topped charts with the track, Sadza Nemhiripiri, featuring Chipoko ChaSauro and Dispatch, says he is elated with the success of his track.

Mukoma Panga revealed it was his dream to work with the late Soul Jah Love and that explains why he roped in Chipoko ChaSauro on Sadza Nemhiripiri.

The track, Sadza Nemhiripiri, was on number one on National FM Top 20, and number three on Radio Zimbabwe, behind Alick Macheso and Mark Ngwazi.

“I am ecstatic. I feel humbled. It feels good to have my work appreciated and accepted by many people,” he said.

“I always wanted to have a collaboration with Soul Jah Love.

“I have always enjoyed his music and craft.

“Unfortunately, we never had a chance to work together because of his untimely death.

“So, when I heard about Chipoko ChaSauro and, after watching him at a live gig in Epworth and at NAMA, I decided to engage him and, as they say, the rest is history.”

Mukoma Panga said he introduced a new sound called Singumba.

“This is a new sound I am introducing like the one on Sadza Nemhiripiri.

“It is a mixture of sungura, rhumba and Zim dancehall.

“That is why there is a Zim dancehall artist and a rhumba artist on my track.

“Dispatch is a rhumba artist from DRC now based in Zimbabwe.

Sadza Nemhiripiri is a track off my forthcoming album yet to be named.

“And, I hope the new sound will thrive,” he told H-Metro.

He released his debut album Mbuva YeHwiza in 2019, and was nominated for NAMA and ZIMA for Best Newcomer and Best Sungura.

Last year, he released the second album, Pfimbi YeGudo, which carried songs like Uri Wangu and Cheu Cheu.

This year he also released a single, titled Mai Mwana, featuring Agartha Murudzwa.
