Sunzu honoured

PARIS. — Zambia defender Stopilla Sunzu is shooting failure in the face after winning Sochaux’s Player of the Month award for January.
In only his first month with the French League 1 strugglers, the centre-half has endeared himself to the club’s style and fans. Stopilla (240 beat Frenchman Sebastien Corchia and Ghana’s Jordan Ayew, who got second and third respectively.

Since being signed just last month from African club giants TP Mazembe, the Chipolopolo has played in all five competitive games, and capping it with a goal a the start of February which gave them the winner against Nantes. Former Zambia coach Herve Renard signed the defender, having spent successful years with him on the continent.

“Stopilla Sunzu has been voted Best Player at FCSM for the month of January 2014. With 26.2 per cent of the votes, he is slightly ahead of Sebastien Corchia on 23.7 per cent while Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew completes the top three with 13.4 per cent of the votes. — AFP.
