Super fans Mzansi-bound

Beaulan Gadza and FC Platinum’s Taurai Chamisa won tickets to watch the Nations Cup final match in the 2012 Castle Lager Premiership Super Fan contest.

The two supporters, according to the league sponsors, were the most passionate fans for their clubs, added colour and provided excitement to the Premiership.

Gadza, clad in her green attire, would dance the whole afternoon while her team was playing.
And watching her in that ball of joy, one would think that her team, which once went through a lengthy dry spell, was on the top of the log.

To her, it is all about cheering her team, no matter the circumstances, and yesterday, speaking to The Herald, Gadza said she was looking forward to the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“It feels good to be recognised among the best supporters and I am happy that now I will be able to watch African nations competing,” said Gadza.

“I love soccer and I don’t miss matches. I appeal to other female fans to come out and openly support football. Most people think that the sport should not be enjoyed by women.
“I am proud with what I do at the stadium and I will be just enjoying, that’s all.

“I am looking forward to having a good time in South Africa as we will see other fans from other countries supporting their teams.

“Maybe I will learn a couple of new things, which I will use to support my beloved team CAPS United.”
The Super Fans will not represent their clubs only when they watch the final match but would be donning national team colours.

Unfortunately, Zimbabwe will not be represented after missing out on the football festival.
The Super Fan competition saw all the 16 league clubs participating.

Castle Lager representatives visited all the stadiums, during games, to look for the best Super Fans who showed the best commitment, passion and enthusiasm for their clubs.

The CAPS United and the FC Platinum fans won the contest and have been rewarded with a trip to South Africa.

However, the competition will continue when the domestic football season starts and Delta Beverages Marketing Manager, Patricia Murambinda, said fans will still be rewarded.

“The journey will not stop here, as our fans have been and will continue to be a big part of supporting local football.

“Some of them may even be asked to present the many monthly Castle Lager awards.
“Fans will continue to bring excitement to the matches and we will reward them for that,” said Murambinda.
