Police are hunting for four suspects who robbed a supermarket at Nare Business Centre in Gwanda and went away with R500 000 and US$6 000.
The suspects attacked one Thokozile Zororo before vanishing with the cash.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Zororo was now recuperating at Gwanda Provincial Hospital.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating circumstances in which a supermarket at Nare Business Centre, Gwanda was robbed of US$6 000 and R500 000 on April 26, 2021 by four armed suspects.
“The criminals attacked the complainant Thokozile Zororo who is now recovering at Gwanda Provincial Hospital,” Asst Comm Nyathi said.
In another case, police in Bulawayo are investigating a robbery which occurred at WFP Warehouse and Econet Warehouse on Monday during which US$90 094, R153 385, P25 724, ZW$855 174 was stolen.
Six men armed with two pistols stormed the premises between 12am and 3am and captured four guards before disarming the fifth one.
They also stole a digital video recorder for the CCTV from a strong room and a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle.
In Harare, police have launched a manhunt for five suspects who pounced on a house in Glen Lorne last week and got away with US$51 000.
The suspects first held the occupants hostage and later robbed them of cash and other valuables worth thousands of dollars.
Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident saying: “On April 14, 2021, five unknown suspects stormed a house in Glen Lorne, Harare and held hostage the occupants before robbing them of US$51 000 cash and other valuables all valued at US$56 650. Investigations are underway.”
Asst Comm Nyathi urged members of the public not to keep large sums of money in homes or on business premises as they risked being robbed.
Meanwhile, police have arrested Simbarashe Maonera and Nerbson Katsande in connection with an armed robbery case which occurred along Glenara Avenue in Harare last week.
The duo was arrested in Mbare.
The victim was blocked by a Toyota Noah vehicle before being robbed of cash and valuables worth US$5 700. Investigations by police led to the arrest of the duo in Mbare and the recovery of a stolen iPhone.
In another incident, police in Mbare, recovered a stolen blue Mercedes Benz registration number ADL 4916.
The owner had been robbed of the vehicle along Amalinda Road after he was blocked by a Toyota Vitz vehicle near Churu Farm.
