adminPlayer of the Year for the just-ended season, is in South Africa amid indications that former Absa Premiership champions SuperSport United are interested in his services.
SuperSport United have not conceded many goals in the first round of the South African Premiership, however they haven’t scored many either.
Sources have revealed that the team wants to have a look at Jaure with a possibility of bringing in the defender and Soccer of the Year finalist to add depth to the squad.
Jaure is also wanted in Turkey by an undisclosed team and his management have indicated that the former La Liga man is only awaiting a Turkish visa before making his trip to the European country.
It is now understood that that the talented defender, who can also play in a midfield holding role, will join SuperSport during the break.
Sources said that the player had earlier been in South Africa to familiarise himself with the conditions before the trial stint at SuperSport begins.
“He is a good defender and I think if he is given enough time he can make it in South Africa. I am not sure when he is going there but it is probably early January,” he said.
Dynamos secretary general Raymond Kazembe confirmed to the Siya crew that the player will be coming to South Africa.
“We had talks with SuperSport United and we will let the player go and try his luck there.
“But you should know that there are teams from Turkey who are interested in the player so we will see what happens,” Kazembe said.
Meanwhile, Ajax Cape Town are hoping to tie down the future of their midfielders, Tafadzwa Rusike and Nhlanhla Vilakazi, in the coming weeks, before they enter the last six months of their contracts.
Both Rusike (23) and Vilakazi (25) will see their current deals come to an end in June but the club wants to make sure that they remain at Ikamva.
Zimbabwean, Rusike, joined Ajax from CAPS United in 2010, while Vilakazi joined the same year having impressed during his time with Bay United. Now the club’s CEO, George Comitis, has explained that he expects to tie the pair down shortly.
Comitis said: “I’ve got Rusike and Vilakazi’s contracts coming to an end, we’re getting close now though, we’ll probably conclude them soon.”
Other Ajax players who could see their deals run out are goalkeeper, Sander Westerveld, who’s deal ends in June, and veteran former Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth, whose contract is set to be reviewed in March. — Laduma.
