“I give 100 percent support to churches built by our own people. Such churches should be given sufficient respect and support to ensure total independence and economic empowerment in the country. If our own people can build big churches with their own resources, then nothing would stop them from building the nation,” he said.
“We have come to join the Guta RaMwari Zvimiso Church in their celebrations and also assure members of this church that the Government is prepared to assist them, through the indigenisation programme in various projects that they might be aspiring to venture in.”
He said churches and youths in Bulawayo must benefit from the economic empowerment programme as the Government strived to revive Bulawayo industries.
“Bulawayo must be revived, developed and supported and we have just started the journey. I am now going to be a permanent feature in Bulawayo because I want churches and the youths to be part of this process.
“Nobody belongs to a particular tribe or group. We are all Zimbabweans and one big family with one goal, which is total independence and economic empowerment. It is therefore everybody’s duty, including churches and youths in Bulawayo, to be part of the recovery of the country’s economy. The indigenisation programme can only be successful if we work together as a team.”
Minister Kasukuwere urged the youths to be part of the solutions to total empowerment and development in the country, as his Ministry tried to find solutions to challenges such as de-industrialisation in Bulawayo.
He said the Government was struggling to bring peace and stability in the country, which was expected to bring development and create more opportunities for youths.
“We are struggling on a daily basis to bring peace and stability in the country so that we can start scholarship programmes for our youths. President Mugabe is always saying the youths should develop cities, create employment for themselves and others and develop the country because they are the leaders of tomorrow.
“I would like to urge the youths to be part and parcel of finding solutions to total empowerment, strengthen each other and map the way forward. I have come with officials from my office in Harare to discuss these issues with the youths at Guta RaMwari Zvimiso Church,” said Minister Kasukuwere.
He donated 600 bags of cement to the church to assist in the building of an incomplete church building.
The leader of the church Juliet Tayali Chamoto (Gomo) commended Minister Kasukuwere, saying the church had the same vision of administering its own wealth.
“We are grateful for the donation that we have received from the Minister and we would like to thank him for spearheading empowerment and indigenisation in the country.
“As a country, it is important for us to administer our own wealth as each country has its own resources and we should not be seen going to exploit other people’s resources when we have our own,” she said.
The chairperson of youth development and education in Guta RaMwari, Mr Life Gumbo, said the church fully supported Minister Kasukuwere as it had the same vision.
“Our church moulds us to be respectful, self-reliant and skilful people in society. We therefore fully support Minister Kasukuwere’s indigenisation programme because it strives to bring total empowerment, especially to the youths. We therefore encourage the minister to continue to empower us to have our own businesses and create a better future for ourselves and the generations to come,” said Mr Gumbo.
The celebrations were also attended by officials from the National Indigenisation, Economic and Empowerment Board, Zanu-PF Central Committee member Cde Molly Mpofu and other officials from the party.
