Support Unit flounder in Swaziland

Support Unit men crashed out in the semi-finals of the Region V Volleyball Club Championships after a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Botswana giants Kutlwano in Swaziland last Friday.
The Zimbabwe police side became the latest local team to exit the competition, which ends today, after four others faltered in the preliminary stages.
These were Railstars and Naba (men) and UZ Wolves and ZRP Raiders (women).
Hopes were high that Support Unit, who reached last year’s final in Mozambique, would go all the way.
Support Unit started the tournament with 3-1 win over Spiking Stars (Botswana), before edging past Red Skins (Lesotho) 3-2.
They wrapped up their group stage assignments with a 3-1 victory over Correctional Sunrise (Swaziland).
After dismissing Swaziland’s RSP 3-0 in the quarter-finals, Support Unit’s journey was ended by Kutlwano.
Railstars put up a commendable effort to reach the quarter-finals, where they lost 0-3 to defending champions Autoridade Tributaria of Mozambique.
Naba, making their second appearance in the competition, failed get past the first hurdle after being placed in group of death with Autoridade Tributaria, Police XI (Botswana) and Customs (Swaziland).
The two women’s teams crashed out in the quarter-finals, with UZ Wolves losing 2-3 to Pedagogica (Mozambique) and ZRP Raiders being defeated 1-3 by Kalavango (Botswana).
