Supporters’ association calls for Zifa Board to step down

Sports Reporter
EDDIE Chivero, the president of the Zimbabwe National Team Supporters Association, has called on the Zifa Board and Assembly to step down after the latest Warriors debacle. A fuming Chivero telephoned Chronicle last night saying it was about time Zimbabwe football was saved.“What else do we need to see before the sport sinks to its knees? We can’t go below this . . . surely heads must roll. What have we as a nation to do deserve this, the football family wants administrators with a clear vision of where they want our football to be.

“We have lost confidence in these people and what is hurting is the fact that despite all the bad administration, we have Cuthbert Dube and Ndumiso Gumede seeking re-election,” said Chivero.

He said the fact that the Under-17 and Under-20 teams failed to travel to their assignments and await sentencing by the Confederation of   African Football was testimony of the organisation’s failures.
“Everything about this Zifa has not been up to standard, they simply should step down this weekend and we start afresh,” said Chivero.
