Suspected car thief remanded in custody

A SUSPECTED car thief has been arrested on allegations of stealing a truck along Mutare Road.

Kumbirai Sanyanga appeared before Harare magistrate, Yeukai Dzuda, who remanded him in custody to August 3.

Sanyanga is being accused of stealing an unmarked white Volvo Rigid truck on Saturday, which had been left by the complainant, near Tenda Bus Stop.

Circumstances are that on the day in question, Sanyanga allegedly stole the vehicle, which had been left unattended, by the complainant.

The complainant had gone to attend a client along Mutare Road and when he returned, he found the accused already driving the vehicle.

He then hired a taxi and chased the accused. Sanyanga was then intercepted near Goromonzi Tollgate, which then led to his arrest.

He will be back in court on August 3.
