Suspected girlfriend killer on the run

Police in Marondera have launched a manhunt for a suspect from the town who allegedly killed his girlfriend after a misunderstanding.

It is alleged that the now deceased, Ms Sharon Mashowo visited her boyfriend at his home in Nyameni, Marondera last Thursday evening and she was never seen from that day, prompting her friends and mother to search for her.

Her body was found in her boyfriend’s room, behind the bed, with an Okapi knife stuck on the back of her head.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi confirmed the incident.

“Her body was discovered on Saturday. Police on Sunday attended to the scene and ferried the body to Marondera provincial hospital for post-mortem. Investigations are in progress.”

When The Herald arrived at the scene, residents were gathered outside the house where the body was retrieved.

There was a strong smell from the room which was already infested with flies.
