A BEITBRIDGE woman has been arrested for allegedly dealing in mbanje. Sithembile Ngwenya, 51, of Dulibadzimu suburb was reportedly found in possession of 45kg of mbanje stashed in a sack. The officer commanding police in Beitbridge District, Chief Superintendent Patrick Majuta, said Ngwenya would appear in court soon facing a charge of contravening a section of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

“Our team of detectives was patrolling around Mashakada Business Centre on Tuesday night when they came across Macleod Shekede who was smoking marijuana. When they arrested him, he led them to Ngwenya’s home leading to her arrest,” he said.

Chief Supt Majuta said police recovered several twists of mbanje whose value could not be ascertained.

The incident comes barely a fortnight after another woman from the same suburb was jailed for two months for possessing 228 grammes of mbanje.
