A SUSPECTED thief appeared at the Mbare Magistrates’ Court yesterday facing an attempted murder charge after he allegedly stabbed a man in the chest during a quarrel.

Brilliant Ncube is reported to have stabbed Tafadzwa Maneza, who is currently admitted to hospital.

Ncube was remanded in custody to April 4 as the State wants to first ascertain Maneza’s condition.

Magistrate Eliza Chivangwe transferred the case to the Harare Regional Court as Ncube is facing a serious offence.

The State said Ncube took off his gumboots and wore one of Mishy’s gumboots at the traffic lights close to ZBC Mbare studios.

All this happened in Maneza’s eyes and he informed Mishy about the matter.

When Ncube saw that Maneza had reported him to Mishy, he confronted him.

The confrontation degenerated into an altercation and Ncube then stabbed Maneza in the chest with an unknown sharp object.

Maneza fell and lost consciousness and was rushed to hospital where he was admitted.

The State said Ncube was well known for his violent behaviour and harassing people.

In opposing bail, the State said there was a need to send a strong warning to the public that violence wasn’t permissible and he should be remanded in custody.

Blessing Chikowore appeared for the State.
