THE three-day Umguza District Annual Agricultural Show, which featured 72 exhibitors and 500 exhibits, concludes today (Friday) with organisers expressing enthusiasm over the strong turnout and high-quality displays.

Held at Aerodrome Hall in Ward Seven, just outside Bulawayo along the Bulawayo-Harare highway, the show featured a variety of small livestock including different breeds of chickens, rabbits, and peacocks.

Other highlights included field horticulture, value-added crops, home industries such as pottery, and stands representing companies producing agricultural products and seeds.

Umguza Agricultural Show Society chairperson Mr Robert Sondokhulu Ndlovu said the main objective of the show is to bring farmers together so that they share ideas which will in turn, help them in improving their farming methods and eventually yields.

“We want our farmers to improve their farming methods and also their yields. As Umguza, we want to be self-sustaining in terms of food and other income-generating projects, which are also on display here. We are excited about the quality of exhibits and turnout. Farmers are coming from all 19 wards in the district,” said Mr Ndlovu.
The show is running under the theme: Sustainable Agriculture for Food Security.
