Swanepoel crowned golf champion

The South African golfer had a great comeback on the last day where he played in the second last ball to record an overall 15-underpar score.

A 71, 69, 69 and 64 was all the golfer needed to book a two-time hole number 18 play-off.

Filled with composure Swanepoel managed to recover from the bunker on the first attempt to save a par.

Fisher Jnr who had a good game hit a tree two times on the second attempt to give the title away.

Swanepoel recorded his first Sunshine Tour title in style as he kept his knocks off Fisher Jnr. The golfer pocketed a cool R127 000 for his exploits.

Four consecutive birdies on the second nine a par and two other birdies gave the golfer confidence. The golfer went for another par before a double drop on the last hole to book the play-offs.

With very few people expecting such a come back, golfers followed proceedings on the last ball.

South African golfers continued their dominance over the locals as Ruan de Smidt settled for third place on 13-underpar 275. Colin Nel was fourth after the last round on nine-under 279.

The Zimbabwe Open 2009 champion Jean Hugo settled for a fifth place tie with Titch Moore and Justin Walters with an eight-underpar.
