“This is a nice win. Fisher is a really good player and a good guy. I feel sorry for him, but unfortunately there can only be one winner, we cannot split it. It is a fantastic feeling. I love playing out here on this fantastic course — it has a lovely layout. It’s my first playoff win in three tries, and it’s an incredible feeling,” he said.
Swanepoel managed to recover from the bunker on the first attempt to save a par on the play off at par 4 hole 18.
Fisher who had a good game, hit the trees twice on the second attempt to give the title away.
Swanepoel recorded his first ever-Sunshine Tour title in style as he kept his cool to beat Fisher who had led since day two. Four consecutive birdies on the second nine, a par and two other birdies gave the Swanepoel confidence.
Swanepoel went for another par before a double drop on the last hole to book the playoffs.
South African golfers continued their dominance over the locals as Ruan de Smidt settled for third place on 13-under-par 275.
Colin Nel was fourth after the last round on nine-under 279.
Zimbabwe Open 1999 champion Jean Hugo settled for a fifth place tied with Titch Moore and Justin Walters with an eight-under-par.
Desvonde Botes was eighth after carding a seven-under-par total score.
Anthony Michael, Tyrone Ryan, Teboho Sefatsa, Danie van Tonder and Ulrich van den Berg completed the top ten, which was an all South Africa affair.
Tongo Charamba was the best of the ocal golfers after finishing tied on 21.
Charamba was on two-under-par after an impressive last day 70.
Ryan Cairns who had good outing in the first two rounds will feel that a third day 75 cost him dearly as he finished tied on 25th.
The other locals who were in the game were Micky Hough on number 31, Jason Jackson (46), Robson Saurombe (55), Mohammed Mandhu (62) and Shane Pringle (65).
