Swimmers to take part in SA Olympic qualifiers

The Zimbabwean swimmers will be taking part just to gain experience as opposed to their South African counterparts who will be competing to qualify for the Olympics.
Zimbabwe Swimming Board of  Control chairperson Lorna Riley said Zimbabweans were participating in the tournament just for exposure.
“We will be sending seven of our swimmers to Durban for the South African Olympic Qualifiers that are taking place from 16-22 April. Our swimmers will participate in the tournament just for exposure as well as gain experience,” she said.

Some of our swimmers are already in South Africa while some will be joining them over the weekend.
The swimmers are Timothy Faris, James Lawson, Nick Burnett, Sloane Marshal, Kirsten Lapham, Tarryn Rennie and Megan Carey Smith and the team will be managed by Phillipa Faris.

The swimmers were invited because of their good times.
Meanwhile, seven Bulawayo swimmers will be part of the 25-member swimming Zimbabwe team that will be going to Maputo, Mozambique for the Zone Three and Four Championships that are starting on 25 April.

Matabeleland Amateur Swimming Board chairman Eddie Cyprianos confirmed this yesterday.
“As Matabeleland we have seven swimmers who will be part of the 25-member strong Zimbabwe team that will be going to Maputo in two weeks’ time for the Zone Three and Four Championships,” he said.

The Bulawayo swimmers are Takudzwa Nyamutsamba, Dale Bruce, Frank Lang, Ashby Tink, Luke van Breda, Brendon  and Andresious Cyprianos.
