Swiss-Jet to educate teens about aviation

A local aviation company Swiss-Jet has embarked on a programme to educate teenagers about aviation. A company official told Cool Lifestyle that they found it proper to educate the young ones about aeroplanes and different aspects of aviation.“Children need to know and understand these things which we found proper for us to equip them with the knowledge,” said the official.

He added that they have conducted sessions at schools in all provinces especially those located near aerodromes.

“For primary and high schools first term we do aerodrome flying in which we will be training the students to fly model and scale airplanes and second term the flying club will have interschools, district and national competitions in model flying just as other co-curricular activities like chess and soccer,” he said.

For the third term he said Drone Technology will teach students how to operate commercial type drones and consider the possibility of pursuing an unmanned aerial vehicles career.

During school holiday Swiss-Jet Aviation will be holding air displays in various parts of Zimbabwe for public awareness purposes.

Last year they held successful air displays in Harare, Chipinge, Mutare and Masvingo.

Ruvimbo Muchini a Form One student from a local school said she was once involved in the tutorials which were fruitful.

“It is everyone’s dream to be a pilot and these lessons are very informative and encouraging,” she said.
