Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding, has hailed the revolutionary ties between his country and Zimbabwe, saying he looks forward to the two countries achieving more, guided by their respective revolutionary parties, the Communist Party of China and Zanu PF.

Speaking at the Zimbabwe-China Investment Symposium in Harare last week to celebrate milestones and lessons learnt at the 105th anniversary celebrations of the CPC party’s existence, Zanu PF spokesperson and former Zimbabwean representative to China, Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa, said Zanu PF, Africa and the world had a lot to learn from one of the oldest civilisations.

The symposium created a platform for the two countries to learn about party building and state governance.

Ambassador Zhou said the CPC journey showed resilience, organisational capacity and stability.

“We are looking at the CPC’s role in driving China’s modernisation and advancing global peace and prosperity,” said Ambassador Zhou.

“We often say we have achieved two miracles, which are sustained, rapid economic growth, for the past 40 years, or since opening up in 1978.

“At the same time, we have achieved long-term social stability.”

The trend in the world, he said, had been that some countries achieve economic growth, but fall into chaos or are destabilised by others.

He hailed President Mnangagwa for the solidarity message he delivered on the 105th anniversary of the CPC.

Cde Mutsvangwa said China, under the CPC, had contributed to world peace and development.

“This is a significant moment in the history of Zimbabwe, Africa and the world in that we are celebrating one of the most consistent and successful actors on the global field, the CPC,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

He said the CPC had lived through 105 years of overcoming arduous trials, which had culminated in untold successes.

China, Cde Mutsvangwa said, had always stood with Zimbabwe and other countries in the Global South in their quest for independence, economic strangulation, in the case of Zimbabwe and political support at the United Nations by using its veto power.

He said the relations that the late Zanu PF chairman Cde Herbert Chitepo initiated, tendered by President Mnangagwa and the late ZANLA commander Cde Josiah Magama Tongogara, had blossomed into a mutually beneficial union.

The chairperson of the China-Zimbabwe Parliamentary Caucus, Honourable Farai Walter Mapfumo, said he valued the cultural and ideological solidarity, adding that China’s story should inspire Zanu PF to steer the country towards achieving socio-economic and political milestones.
