In an interview, the event co-ordinator, Mrs Annah Mandizha-Ncube, of Rise Events, said there was a need to assess the benefits of the general assembly especially to Hwange District to make full use of the opportunities.

“We want to assess on where we are now and what we benefited from the successful hosting of the UNWTO in the resort town of Victoria Falls since it is closer to Hwange,” she said.

Mrs Mandizha-Ncube said they wanted to assess the importance of events such as the general assembly and others which are yet to be hosted especially in the development of local communities.

“After the successful hosting of the general assembly we want business communities to meet and ensure that we utilise whatever we got to ensure that corporate social responsibility activities are maintained,” she said.

Some small and medium enterprises benefited from the event and this event will help in finding ways in which they can be supported. “We want to find ways for these SMEs to grow so that they contribute in the development of the district and the province as a whole,” said Mrs Mandizha-Ncube.

The event is mainly targeting the local business people in Hwange, SMEs and local traditional leaders.
“We are expecting about 50 delegates to attend this business symposium and we hope it will be beneficial to the community,” she said.
