CRICKET fans will get a full dose of high tempo action as Zimbabwe’s provincial powerhouses shift into T20 mode.
Zimbabwe Cricket announced they have added fresh sparkle to the competition, with selected matches now set to be played under lights at Harare Sports Club.
The move is designed to boost fan attendance and give players valuable experience in night-time conditions.
The tournament gets underway today, with Eagles taking on Tuskers at 9,30am, followed by defending champions Rhinos facing Mountaineers at 1,45pm.Tomorrow’s fixtures also remain unchanged, with Rhinos meeting Tuskers in the morning and Southern Rocks clashing with Eagles in the afternoon.
However, to accommodate the newly introduced evening slots, matches scheduled for Wednesday, Friday and Saturday have been shifted to 1345 and 1830.
The adjustments are intended not only to give more supporters the opportunity to watch the action after work, but also to provide players with crucial exposure to conditions typical of international night games — particularly with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 fast approaching.
The games had been planned for January, but ZC moved them forward to sharpen preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
India and Sri Lanka will co-host the global event in February, and this early domestic run gives selectors and players a clearer picture of where they stand.
The schedule shake up means Logan Cup and Pro50 Championship matches that were slotted for 9 to 14 December have been put on hold until new dates are confirmed.
Attendance is free for all games and supporters have been urged to fill the stands and enjoy the country’s best players going head to head in the shortest format on the domestic calendar.
