CLIVE “Mono” Mukundu’s son, Takakunda, is a creative genius in the making.

After honing his skills under his father’s mentorship, Takakunda has been rendering his services to several local artists as a session instrumentalist.

Takakunda has now collaborated on a song with Indian diva Hemina Shah.

Hemina has been courting African musicians online and Takakunda won her heart.

And, their musical romance is fast yielding results.

The pair is tomorrow expected to release a Hindi-Afro beat track titled Laila.

“My son Takakunda is releasing an interesting collabo this Friday,” said Mono.

“He collaborated with an Indian artist by the name of Hemina Shah and his father, yours truly, handled the production.”

His son was equally ecstatic.

“The experience was very interesting because we were combining different cultures to create something unique, so it was really great.

“We took care to ensure that our Zimbabwean and Indian flair harmonised properly so that the Zimbabwean component would not be absorbed.

“We linked via Instagram where I posted a lot of African/Zimbabwean guitar compositions, that’s where we communicated and then started making music

“She is a very talented, creative singer and it was great to work with her.”

He hailed his father.

“My father produced the project. We sat down together in the studio and structured the song then he also mixed and mastered the project.

“From this experience, I have also come to appreciate the Indian singing style.

“The visuals are coming out on Friday at 10 am.”

Takakunda did not rule out more collaborations or a joint tour.

“Hopefully, soon, right now we are just focusing on pushing the song,” he said.
