Take a bow for Pasuwa

CALLISTO Pasuwa’s profile keeps getting bigger and bigger.

The trailblazing coach has added another feather on his cap after winning the 2022 Malawi Premiership Coach of the Year gong.

He guided Nyasa Big Bullets to four league titles in a row.

Pasuwa also achieved the same feat with Dynamos from 2011 to 2014 before quitting the Glamour Boys.

He has now won eight league titles in his last eight seasons.

His recognition has not been without controversy though.

In 2013, he lost the Coach of the Year accolade to Bigboy Mawiwi of Harare City, despite winning the championship.

The Sunshine Boys finished third in that season.

He also went on to lose the gong to Saul Chaminuka, then with ZPC Kariba, in the year that he won his record-equalling fourth consecutive league title with DeMbare.

Some Dynamos fans still consider him the right candidate to restore their waning fortunes.

Meanwhile, Pasuwa’s son, Kenneth, is training with Nyasa and there is a growing expectation he could be signed for the club.

Kenneth told H-Metro that he was just training.

“I’m just training here and haven’t signed anything yet.

“If anything happens, I will let you know, but at the moment, I’m just trying to stay fit,” said Kenneth.

The 24-year-old has had stints with local clubs like Chapungu, Black Rhinos, Green Fuel and Sheasham.

The AYSA Academy graduate was part of the Sheasham squad, which won the ZIFA Central Region Division One League title last year, to secure PSL promotion.

Other reports suggest that the utility player might join another team in Malawi’s top-flight league.
