ECCLESIASTES 11:4 KJV
He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.
If you want to do anything, there will always be odds that are against you. When you are determined to take action, there is always one thing or another that rises up to deter you.
It might be a thought that says you are not able to do it. It may be fear of losing your investment. It may be the thought that you will not get enough clients or support.
You may feel you are not good enough. Sometimes you feel like procrastinating. These hurdles will come into your mind in order for you to defer your dream or action.
The Bible is saying do not observe the wind, if you want to sow. A farmer who observes what the wind is doing may not start planting, waiting for a perfect time to do so. But the season will come and go while the farmer waits for the perfect planting time.
Do not observe the wind. Just go ahead and sow your seeds. The rain will come when your seeds are in the ground.
Do not wait for a perfect moment for the iron to be hot for you to start striking it. It may not get hot. Rather make it hot by striking it.
Start the endeavour and gather momentum while on it. It will not get conducive for you to start. Start to make it conducive for momentum. You can never learn driving by not driving. Learn to drive by driving.
No one taught me how to ride a bicycle. I saw a friend who was riding one. I asked him to let me ride it. He did not know I had never ridden one. He allowed me. I pushed it and put my right foot on the right pedal and lifted the left foot over the saddle and it landed on the left pedal. I started pedalling. I went down the road while I was wondering how I was managing to do it. I wondered while the cycling was in progress. That is how I learnt to ride.
Moses wanted to turn down a promotion.
He raised excuse after excuse, when God wanted to commission him at the burring bush. He said he was not eloquent, he was afraid they would not take him seriously, he was afraid they would ask him the Name of the One Who sent Him.
God told him He was elevating him to a god, while Aaron his brother would be a prophet. Moses observed the wind.
Only the slothful will find obstacles in their way. Only a slothful man will find barriers in his way. Proverbs 15:19 says: “The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.”
A slothful man finds challenges in his way. A diligent man finds opportunities. If you are not diligent, you will always find excuses. You will say, its too cold, its too hot, its raining, its is snowy it is this and that. You will always find something or someone to blame. You will have a scapegoat in everything.
A slothful man always sees a lion in the streets, in his imagination. He is always fearful. He fears the worst. Proverbs 22:13 says: “The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.”There is always a lion outside, for a slothful man. You will always find something to blame for your inaction. You will blame taxes, the Government, your wife, your neighbour etc. Take control of your destiny and stop finding obstacles. If you have to do anything, be ready to act despite the odds, despite your own feelings, regardless of the circumstances.
Do not observe the wind.
