Take advantage of Women’s Bank, says league official

WOMEN should take advantage of the recently opened Women’s Bank to participate actively in development initiatives, a Zanu-PF official has urged. Speaking at a meeting held in Sakubva, Mutare, last Thursday, Zanu-PF Women’s League secretary for finance Cde Caroline Tsitsi Mugabe said women should earnestly take part in economic issues.

“Women should not be left behind in economic issues. Let us take advantage of the recently opened Women’s Bank.
“Whenever we hear the President’s mantra of ‘Zimbabwe is open for business’ we must feel happy as women since we are the best business people,” she said.

Cde Mugabe urged women to take President Mnangagwa’s promises seriously saying he was a man of his word.
Speaking at the same event, Zanu-PF Central Committee member Cde Caroline Mukuni appealed to women to vote for people who are gender sensitive into leadership positions.

Cde Mukuni urged women to vote for President Mnangagwa during the July 30 elections saying he had women at heart.
“Women will never be empowered if there is no Government that considers their plight. We have a leader in the name of President Mnangagwa who knows there are women out there who need equal opportunities. We are all aware that elections are coming and I am appealing to you all to vote for President Mnangagwa, for he will empower us all through his new Government,” she said.

Cde Mukuni urged women to support each other and share ideas that improved their welfare.
She said it was disheartening to note that there were some members of the ruling party who were plotting to derail the vision of the ruling party through ‘Bhora Musango’ campaigns.

“I am saddened by some party members who want ‘Bhora Musango’. There are some people who are saying we will vote for Mr Chamisa. Mr Chamisa is like my first born child. He has nothing to offer. Let us all work together for the benefit of our party,” she said.

Cde Mukuni took a swipe at people who were behind the White City Stadium bombing saying violence had no room in this country.

“I know they injured one of us, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri. They wanted to derail our voting process but we are saying let us go and vote come July 30,” she said.

She also urged people in Mutare to vote for President Mnangagwa and aspiring candidate for Mutare Central constituency, Cde Nancy Saungweme as well as those vying for council posts on a Zanu-PF ticket.
