MARIMBA outfit, Pamuzinda Traditional Music Ensemble from Highfield, has teamed up with Hühnerbach Musi, a traditional Bavarian band, to create a harmonious blend of Zimbabwean and Bavarian music.
The 12-man band is currently on a European tour, which started on May 11 in Hamburg, in Germany.
Pamuzinda has so far performed their traditional Zimbabwean music at seven concerts since the beginning of their tour.
Group spokesperson, Vengai Katogodo, said the tour is an opportunity to exchange cultures.
“We are thrilled to announce that Pamuzinda is currently on an exhilarating tour of Germany, captivating audiences with our vibrant rhythms and energetic performances.
“This tour is not just a showcase of Zimbabwean culture but also a unique opportunity for cultural exchange.
“We have teamed up with Hühnerbach Musi, a traditional Bavarian band, to create a harmonious blend of Zimbabwean and Bavarian music.
“Our collaboration with Hühnerbach Musi brings together the rich musical traditions of both regions, offering a transcendent experience that celebrates the best of both cultures.”
He added:
“Our joint performances have been a highlight of the tour, drawing enthusiastic crowds and rave reviews.
“This cultural exchange is particularly significant given the long-standing twinning of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, and Munich, the heart of Bavaria.
“For many years, these two cities have shared a special relationship, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.
“Our partnership with Hühnerbach Musi strengthens the bond between the two cities, highlighting the deep-rooted connections between Zimbabwe and Germany.
“We have performed at various venues, with a standout show at the Afrika Festival Birkenried, where the electrifying fusion of Zimbabwean and Bavarian music left the audience in awe.
“This collaboration not only showcases the universal language of music but also underscores the importance of cultural unity and exchange.”
Katogodo said the marimba outfit will release a new single after the tour.
“In addition to our tour, we are currently working on an exciting new single, being recorded with one of Zimbabwe’s top record producers.
“This upcoming track promises to be a blend of all generations, featuring the fresh sounds of Zimbabwe’s hip hop and rap artists, as well as zim dancehall, mixed with our traditional music.
“This innovative fusion aims to promote the diverse genres of Zimbabwean music and introduce a rare, new type of sound.
“We plan to tour with these featured artists in the near future, further promoting Zimbabwe’s rich musical heritage.”
