AFTER close to two years of no action in Division One football in the country, Zifa Southern Region club, FC Talen Vision have decided to temporarily suspend contracts for players as well as technical staff.
FC Talen Vision’s main sponsors, Trukumb Mine (Private) Limited decided at their board meeting that in view of the Covid-19 challenges that have led to the suspension of all sporting activities in the country, they shift the sponsorship of sports to community benefitting projects such as schools, health centres, while maintaining their passion for sports.
“Pursuant to the above resolution, all FC Talen Vision non-performing contracts for both technical staff and players be hereby suspended as at 30 June 2021 until resumption of football,’’ read part of the communication sent to FC Talen Vision general manager, Mkhululi Mthunzi.
The players and their coaches will, however, not be left out in the cold as they are being offered employment on a permanent and part-time basis at various Talen Vision projects that are bankrolled by Trukumb Mining.
“In the meantime, players and the technical staff alike will be offered permanent or part-time employment in projects that are sponsored by Trukumb Mine (Private) Limited,’’ further read the communication.
Some of Talen Vision’s income generating projects include Talen Vision Foods, Talen Vision Bricks and Construction, Talen Vision Engineering and Steel Fabrication, Talen Vision Academic and Sports Institute.
Trukumb Mining stated that FC Talen Vision can seek fresh sponsorship once there is communication from authorities on when Division One football is resuming.
“If football authorities advise a date for football resumption, FC Talen Vision can approach Trukumb Mine for new sponsorship deal. We take this opportunity to thank you for the partnership in football and hope to engage each other as soon as football resumes,’’ concluded the communication.
Mthunzi has since urged players and technical staff members to take up the employment offer.
“These projects will offer both temporary and permanent jobs to our players, temporary to the young players in that they will temporarily work before the games start and once the games start they will go back to football while those that will have decided to hang their boots will be absorbed permanently in employment,’’ said Mthunzi.
FC Talen Vision lost out to Bulawayo City in the 2019 the promotion race.
This was despite that fact that the team coached by Mkhuphali Masuku at the time was on top of the log for the bulk of the season before Amakhosi overtook them just before they crossed the finish line into the Premier Soccer League. -@Mdawini_29
