A GWANDA man turned a casual conversation into a deadly encounter after he allegedly bludgeoned his neighbour to death with a brick for chatting with his niece.
Brian Ngulube (48), a court heard, went commando on Simon Ncube at Mpondo Business Centre on July 2.
The court heard that Ncube was talking to Prudence Sibanda, Ngulube’s niece, when the accused flew into a rage.
“Ngulube demanded to know why the deceased was speaking to his niece. A heated exchange followed before Ngulube picked up a brick and struck Ncube on the head multiple times,” said prosecutor Ngonidzashe Shumba.
Bystanders rushed to intervene, managing to stop the brutal attack. Ncube was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Gwanda magistrate Progress Murandu remanded Ngulube in custody to 29 July.
