FIRE AT SIDOJIWE FLATS! Tenants panick as flames lick third floor

Bongani Ndlovu

PANIC gripped residents of Sidojiwe Flats in Bulawayo on Saturday when a fire erupted on the third floor, damaging one of the rooms in the high-rise block.
The dramatic incident saw thick smoke billowing into the sky as residents rushed out in fear, while firefighters battled to contain the flames.

Bulawayo Chief Fire Officer Mhlangano Moyo confirmed the scare and said no one was injured.
“Our team responded swiftly to the scene and managed to restrict the fire to a single room. There were no injuries or fatalities,” said Moyo.

He said early signs point to a possible electrical fault as the cause.
“We suspect an electrical fault may have triggered the fire, but investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause,” he said.

The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but the fire has left residents shaken.
More details to follow as investigations continue.
