Tambwera joins OGs

SABLES and Cheetahs fly-half Lenience “LT” Tambwera says he is enjoying a more challenging life at Old Georgians Rugby Club having crossed the floor from bitter rivals Harare Sports Club for the 2015 season.

Tambwera became the latest acquisition by Grant Mitchel’s Old Georgians having signed for the Groombridge side, exactly a season after another youthful star, his friend Stephan “Stavo” Hunduza left the Red Lions. Tambwera says his decision to move to Old Georgians was inspired by the fact that he was looking for a new challenge in his rugby playing career, having played for Police Defenders and Harare Sports Club on the local scene as he also got the taste of Sharks Academy and Valke in South Africa.

“It (moving to OGs) was not because I was following Stavo (Stephan Hunduza), nor was it because there is anything bad that had happened between myself and the Sports Club family but I was in need of new challenges. I had been at Sports Club for quite a number of years now, when I left for South Africa I was a Sports Club player and when I came back last year that was the same side I re-joined so I felt that I needed a different challenge in my rugby career now. I am loving the challenges, work ethic or training regime at Old Georgians because they put in more training hours and more training days at the club. That is something I like much because I am someone who loves results, that is what makes me achieve and that (working hard) makes it easy in the game.

“When I arrived here I there was a great welcoming reception for me,” said Tambwera.
