TAMY Moyo’s album ‘Bold’ is a fusion of different sounds with the influence of artists like Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah and Winky D.
Bold is set to be released tomorrow morning.
“I collaborated with a couple of my favourites. There is a lot of Delroy Shewe on this project. He was part of the songwriting process. He’s a brilliant young man who is so dedicated to the craft,” said Tamy.
“Jah Prayzah wrote one of the songs on the project and I’m very honoured for him to be there. Think about Macheso. There’s a lot of his influence there. There’s a lot of Winky D in there.
“There’s a lot of Natty O in there. There’s a lot of everyone in there like Killer T, just a lot of different artists and some of them were present in the music and some of them were present in the background, the songwriting and the inspiration.”
Tamy said she worked with different producers to bring out a Zimbabwean sound.
“I think just embracing Zimbabwean talent, each and every producer on this project is proudly Zimbabwean.
“They have done well in their respective areas.”
She added:
“I didn’t just work with them, I collaborated with them, I respect their craft.
“I’m so honoured to work with them.
“I was working with different producers because I think they all specialise in a different sound. But each one traces back to their Zimbabwean roots.
“And, that’s really what I wanted to bring out in the project.”
She said this project is about pride in being Zimbabwean.
“Just an appreciation for who we are as a people, our language, our sound. Even though a lot of people argue that we don’t necessarily have a sound, I believe we do.
“It’s not just about the sound, the instruments, it’s about the melodies themselves.
“It’s about the choice of words, it’s about the language that’s used in the songs and I think all these producers have their different strengths according to the things that I’ve mentioned and that’s why I work with them.
“They’re brilliant at what they do.”
