THE inaugural Nubian Notes concert, “Mambo Kadzi — The Rise of Her Sound”, may have had a lower-than-expected turnout but the energy and talent on the stage made up for it, with Tamy Moyo leading the charge.

The queen of glamour set the tone for the evening, slaying the crowd with her bold, daring outfit and captivating stage presence.

Her signature purple ensemble was a nod to her royal status, and she wore it with confidence.

“Music has this amazing way of connecting us and that’s exactly the vibe I want everyone to take away.”

With hits like “Husiku Hwese” and “Kelly Kelvedhura”, Tamy proved why she’s one of Zimbabwe’s leading ladies.

Joining Tamy on stage were fellow divas —Feli Nandi, Shashl, Gemma Griffith, and Nisha Ts — who transformed the event into a fashion show.

While the turnout may not have been what the organisers had hoped for, the show was a testament to the power of female creativity and self-belief.

Nisha T said:

“We are no longer waiting for permission to take up space. We are telling our own stories, building our own platforms and breaking barriers across all genres.”

She brought a modern twist to the stage with her bold fashion sense and powerful vocals.

Her message of self-empowerment and staying true to herself resonated with the audience, as she performed hits like “Maidei” and “Admire Kadembo”.

Feli Nandi, known for her afro-chic elegance, brought a touch of Zimbabwean sound to the stage, donning a stunning black dress with African prints.

Her powerful voice and authentic storytelling had the crowd dancing, as she performed hits like “Muti Watemwa” and “Ndowona Iwe”.

The night also saw guest performances from Mai Charamba, Freeman, Madam Boss, and Mono Mukundu, who added to the energy and excitement.

Young and talented performers like Xiba Official, Yahya Good Vibes, and Young Gemini also took to the stage, showcasing their skills.

Killer T had the opportunity to perform one of his recent songs “Bhiya,” featuring Xiba Official.

From Gemma’s soulful performances to Shashl’s crowd-pleasing anthems, the show showcased top artists while fostering connections among fans, entrepreneurs, and creatives alike.

Gemma who was the usual energetic smiling self was joined on the stage by Nutty O for the song “Wandoda.”

The duo had good chemistry.

She calls herself “Musikana Weku Harare” and Gemma’s set was inspired by her personal journey, love, life, and growth, and she shared pieces of her story with the audience.

Shashl’s family came through to support her.

Her parents beamed with pride as their daughter showcased her skills on stage with both maturity and the type of confidence which sent a bold message to her fans.

“Shashl is the best performer tonight, her light cannot be dimmed by anyone,” said one of her family members.

Shashl introduced King 98 during her set.

She sampled songs from her new album, “The First Quarter,” and caught the eye with her dance routines, which blended well with her huge supporting cast, and it quickly became clear that this is a group which has been investing a lot of time in their stage performance.

Soulful Leah and Tina Watyoka paid tribute to the ladies in the industry who include Tererai Mugwadi, Mai Charamba, Betty Makaya and the late Chiwoniso Maraire, just to mention a few.
