Tapiwa Makore murder trial: Two acquitted

Mathew Masinge

HIGH Court judge, Justice Munamato Mutevedzi, has acquitted two of the four suspects in the suspected ritual murder of Murewa boy, Tapiwa Makore Jr.

The prosecution dropped charges against Maud Hunidzarira and Thanks Makore, at the close of the State’s case.

All witnesses led by the State did not link the two to the gruesome murder.

However, Justice Mutevedzi ruled that Tafadzwa Shamba and Tapiwa Makore Snr have to be put to their defence to get to the bottom of the case.

Tapiwa Jr was murdered two years ago and was buried without his head.

During indications, Shamba, the first suspect, confessed to luring the boy to a secluded house where he gave him a traditional brew and waited until he slept to slit his throat.

He alleged that Tapiwa Snr was with him and holding a torch when all this happened.

Police later found Shamba’s blood-soaked pair of trousers and vest.

The matter is pending with the pair’s lawyers expected to lead their defence.
