Taruvinga burial set for Friday

THE burial of the late Insiza North legislator Cde Farai “Fimbo” Taruvinga has been set for Friday at his rural homestead in Filabusi, Insiza district, Matabeleland South province.

Cde Taruvinga passed away on Monday morning at his Bulawayo home after a long battle with cancer.

He was 53.

Confirming his burial, Mr Sifiso Mpofu his personal assistant, said:

“Our late hero Cde Farai Taruvinga will be laid to rest at his rural homestead koSkuta in Filabusi. Those who want to pay their last respects to a rare leader should make their way to his home as we celebrate his life,” said Mr Mpofu.

Cde Taruvinga was also a music promoter who was popular for his upscale Scooter Joint leisure spot in Filabusi.

Through Scooter Joint, Cde Taruvinga played a vital role in promoting both established and up-and-coming artistes. His venue hosted top acts such as Big Zulu, Jah Prayzah, Jay Cee, Kay Kid Umfanomsuthu, Zhezhingtons, and Utsheketsha Ogezayo, among others.

His death is a significant loss to Zimbabwe’s arts and political industry, as he was a passionate advocate for local talent and a key figure in bringing entertainment to Filabusi, sponsoring sport activities in the district and developing infrastructure in the area.
