TATENDA Tavengwa’s South African National First Division side, Venda Academy, have appointed a new coach.

The club play in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Head coach, Micheal Loftman, resigned after a string of bad results, and has been replaced by Kabelo Sibiya. Loftman had registered one win and three losses.

“The club would like to thank the coach for the hard work he has put in the past couple of months and wish him the best in his future endeavours.

“The club has appointed Sibiya on an interim basis,” reads the club’s statement.

Tavengwa has been a regular starter for the Venda side.

Tavengwa said he is happy with his progress despite the team’s sluggish start.

“It hasn’t been a good start for everyone at the team.

“We would have loved to start on a high, but in football you have to accept every situation and it’s only a matter of time before we go through this phase.

“I’m a bit satisfied with my progress, although I haven’t hit my best form yet,” said Tavengwa.

The 25-year-old joined the club at the beginning of the season from CAPS United.

The move was secured after a month-long trial, and it’s his first foreign club.

JDR Stars, home to the Warriors’ duo of Ishmael Wadi and Temptation Chiwunga, are just a point behind the top position in the league.
