VENDA FC anchorman Tatenda Tavengwa is now the subject of interest from three South Africa’s Premiership clubs.
This was confirmed by his handler.
His contract with Venda FC, who play in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, is set to run down at the end of next season.
And, there is a belief the club owner will not stand in Tavengwa’s path should one of these PSL teams table a good offer.
“We have been approached by three Premiership clubs who have been following his progress.
“It’s good that Tavengwa is finally getting the recognition he deserves and we are not going to make a rushed decision at the expense of the player.
“We can’t divulge the names of the teams at the moment but we haveagreed to start negotiations at the end of the season,” said the handler.
He added.
“We also have other teams in the championship race who have shown keen interest.
“We are trying our best to negotiate a move that will see Tavengwa playing in the Premiership but what we are also going to consider the mostis the club’s financial status before we agree on anything.”
The former CAPS United midfielder has been impressive in his debut season in Mzansi and he has shown that he can cope with the heat in the country’s top-flight league.
Tavengwa captured the attention of many in their Nedbank Cup fixture against Orlando Pirates after he bullied the Buccaneers mid fielders despite his team being knocked out of the competition.
The 26-year-old has been a regular in a team, which has changed four coaches, in just one season.
He backed that fine performance with a stoppage time stunner which downed Polokwane City in a five-goal thriller.
This club also provide a home to Zimbabwe International forward, Edmore Chirambadare, who has played in the DStv Premiership.
Venda FC are now sitting in 12th place on the table despite spending the better part of the campaign in the basement.
It’s now four games to play before the league’s curtains come down.
They will host Hungary Lions on Saturday.
Hungary Lions sit fourth on the standings and they are chasing a play-off slot.
