Tax warning

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority said in a statement yesterday that public transport operators business should remit taxes not later than July 20. These include owners of commuter omnibuses, taxi-cabs, driving schools and goods vehicles. The deadline for those operating hair salons, commercial water borne vessels, restaurants, bottle stores and cottage industries is July 19.

“The remittances must be accompanied by a completed return for remittances of presumptive tax (Rev 5 form) which can be downloaded from the Zimra website,” said Zimra.
Public transporters are required to remit between US$100 and US$450 per vehicle per quarter depending on the number of passengers a vehicle carries, while driving schools for class 4, 1 and 2 are required to pay US$500 and US$600 per vehicle .

Those operating goods vehicles are required to pay between US$1 000 and US$2 500 per vehicle per quarter depending on the vehicle weight. Entrepreneurs operating hairdressing saloons are required to pay US$1 500 per quarter.
