Marvelous Moyo Gwanda Correspondent
A TAXI driver has been dragged to court by his pregnant girlfriend over claims he deliberately infected her with HIV. Oliver Moyo, 27, of ZRP Old Camp in Gwanda, who is employed as a taxi driver at Godyo Taxis, is accused of failing to disclose  that he was HIV positive after the two fell in love in March.

They had unprotected sex on several occasions until she fell preganant.

But the woman, who cannot be named, fell sick and had boils on her right armpit.

She also started spending most of her time sleeping even during the day, which worried her mother.

In July, the complainant disclosed to her cousin that she was two months pregnant.

Her mother noticed that her daughter’s health continued to deteriorate forcing her to take her for medical examination.

On August 27, she tested positive for HIV.

Moyo was arrested and taken for his own HIV test at Gwanda Provincial Hospital which came out positive.

Moyo appeared before Gwanda magistrate Sheila Nazombe last week but was not asked to plead. He was remanded out of custody to tomorrow for trial at the regional court.

Jefta Nyikadzinashe represented the State.
